I am 14 and 5' 7". I weight 131lbs, when I went to the doctor they told me this was normal for my age. Yet, my stomach sticks out and sometimes i look pregnant, but it is physically impossible for me to be pregnant. Any exercises to burn this and look flat stomached.?Health Question & Answer

You aren't overweight at all, though toning up will help. But for almost immediate results work on improving your posture.

Because you are already a healthy weight you don't really need to lose any, just work with what you have. Practice walking and sitting straight with your shoulders back and your stomach sucked in. I'm not talking about sucking it in as far as you can, but just making an effort to keep your ab muscles lightly flexed. Imagine trying to pull your belly button up and toward your spine.

This will strengthen your core muscles some, though crunches are also the old stand-by for strengthening abs. If you have bad posture now you might find that trying to hold good posture all day can start to make your lower back hurt. If so, just relax for a while and try again later. Losing weight is a slow steady process. And it's not easy. I'm sorry, do not get mad at me for telling you this truth, that you will have to eat right and exercise your a*ss off to get in shape. Call it God's way, call it darwin's law, call it survival of the fittest...

but the people who are too lazy to exercise and eat right, and want to take the easy way out, not only WILL NOT ever get slim and athletic if they continue that attitude... BUT THEY DO NOT DESERVE IT, EITHER. BEING AN ATHLETE AND/OR BEING REALLY SLIM AND SEXY BOTH REQUIRES HARD PHYSICAL WORK-OUTS AND EATING RIGHT, ON A CONSISTENT BASIS, 5-6 DAYS A WEEK.

The good news:

You can probably lose it by February. And you can keep it off for good for the whole rest of your life! You just have to do these key points:

1) Most importantly, exercise. This is the single most important part of losign weight. And no, walking around the block isn't exercise. It ONLY burns calories. There are 9 points to exercise: speed, endurance, anaerobic (weightlifting), plyometrics (fast twitch muscle fibers), making the body work for you (by doing a sport), coordination, heart rate, burning calories, and building lung capacity.

Walking only burns calories. It is a mindless useless waste of time.

Try doing these: 6 100m sprints and fast 800m runs one day, along with plyometrics (look them up). then the next day, a fast paced 2-3 mile run.

After that, lift weights 6 times a week: upper body, lower body, abs, core, and overall body strength (deadlifts, squats, lunges). Do upper body, abs, and core one day, and legs/overall the next day.

Lastly, play a sport you like to build up that intensity: Pick either basketball, soccer, wrestling, or swimming for competition. The competition factor is what REALLY gets the body subconsciously wanting to lose the weight- to compete! It is AN INSTINCT!

as for the food part, do this:

1) only eat healthy, natural foods, organic if you can afford it.

2) No fast food, school food, junk food, artificial or microwaved food, or candy/soda of any kind.

3) No drugs. They are ALL unnatural. This includes coffee, caffeinated drinks, and anything with splenda (sucralose), aspartame, or other artificial sweeteners. Sugar can be burnt off. Artificial sweeteners (ALL OF THEM) are proven to cause organ enlargement and other mutations and heart failure, over time, as well as WEIGHT GAIN!

The only drugs that are OK is prescription drugs for an illness or disease in an emergency. Stuff like cold, flu, headaches, should be handled naturally with toughness. Aspirin or nyquil makes it worse the next time, and lowers the immune system.

4) Eat 5-7 small meals a day. Don't try to MAKE the meals smaller, you should always be comfortably full; the key is that since you are eating more meals, the meals will NATURALLY BE SMALLER! And the metabolism speeds up this way, resulting in weight loss.

5) Eat hot peppers and drink green tea on occasion. The capsaicin in hot peppers, as well as ginseng in green tea, causes the metabolism to speed up.

6) Eat a big breakfast. An ideal braekfast would be 2 organic eggs, organic oatmeal with fruit/milk in it, and some veggies. A protein shake is a good 2nd meal, along with another snack.

7) The meals should get smaller as the day goes on. However, contrary to some beliefs, dinner should be smaller than breakfast but bigger than the meals later in the day. it should be a good amount, since it will keep the metabolism high during the night. JUST TRY NOT TO EAT MANY CARBS AT NIGHT!

Dinner is KEY to eat A LOT of protein and veggies, since they build muscles while you sleep (proteins) and veggies clean you out while you sleep.

8) Eat all 5 food groups equally. NEVER go on any diets; they make money off of you pretending to be healthy, and then buying a microwaved, processed, bleached, chemically altered, frozen "atkins approved" dinner. MY A*SS! That's horrible for you! I repeat: DIETICIANS ARE ONLY OUT THERE TO MAKE MONEY! I DON'T MAKE MONEY FROM THIS! I AM A GOOD ATHLETE! TRUST ME!

9) Get 9 hours of sleep at night, it is key to establishing a healthy weight and increases athletic performance, attention span, and even IQ/brain function over time.

10) DON'T buy lowfat or nonfat milk. Buy organic whole milk. Whole milk is natural, and it's the way it should be. When they take the milk out, how do you think they do it.? "magic".? NO! They use dirty tools to suck the fat from the milk. Those tools then give your milk bacteria, dirt, filth, etc. The milk from previous times stays on and turns moldy. NEVER trust a dirty factory to prepare your food for you!
(plus, fat is necessary to aid in muscle recovery, and healthy brain function, and heals injuries as well!)
