Question: Are Acai Berrys good and healthy way to lose 20 pounds.?
I'm 19 years old and I am 5'5-5'6. I weigh around 150-155 which was caused when i was talking some medication from my doctor. Which I am no longer taking so I gained around 20 pounds. I wish to lose them because I don't really have many clothes that fit my size and it'sn ot healthy for me because I have high blood pressure and I was looking online and saw the Acai Berry diet. It sounds great but I'm worried what I'm putting into my body. Exercise is great and all but I work nearly all day every day so I don't really eat right as well. Hello, Natalie. I think it is important to understand something about acai berries - it is just a fruit. Sure, it has a high amount of antioxidants, but a quick trip to the acai page on wikipedia will show you that it is not even the top in that region, either. For the most part, it is a scam in the sense of the companies making money off of false pretenses. Sure, you will hear about people losing weight eating/taking a lot of acai, but let me ask you a serious question.. would the result have been different if it was a lot of a different fruit.? Personally, I don't think so.

If you understand all of this and still want to have some acai, then approach it as any other fruit and enjoy yourself. However, I would stay away from the "free trials" being thrown around. You are almost guaranteed to get burned here, there are a lot of reports of people being charged for extra shipments they didn't ask for.

I don't think it is very productive to just shoot down someones question and leave them just as lost as before however, so I'd like to recommend some reading on a diet called calorie shifting. I have heard good things about it, but I'll drop a link below and let you decide for yourself.

I hope that whichever path you end up taking that you do lose your unwanted weight, you will surely be a much happier person in the end for it.

Acai berries are indeed a superfood, high in antioxidants and other good things, but they are not a diet food, and they should be eaten in moderation, along with blueberries, raspberries and other deeply colored foods.

I think you know that the only sure way to weight loss is wholesome, unprocessed food and exercise -- even walking 30 minutes a day can make a big difference.Health Question & Answer

I think exercise and diet are the best way to go. There was a great article on Yahoo today about getting an hour workout in 20 minutes. I'll see if I can find it.

the acai berry diet sounds amazing but it definetly is a scam....it will not work. It isnt possible to lose 20lb in two weeks no matter what u do. Your really not overweight, u just need to drop a few pounds. the best way is diet and exersise. Health Question & Answer
