Walking 6 miles, mostly up the hill.. in the snow.?!


Question: Walking 6 miles, mostly up the hill.. in the snow..?
Were were snowed in today. So I walked to the store. I walked about 5 miles, and hitched a ride partly back. Lot of it was up hill. And the snow was DEEP.

Usually I run 5 miles a day and do 70 mins of an arc trainer. I couldn't get to the gym to do that today because of being snowed in. Do you think my walking would make up for that.? I am all stressed out about not working out.

I think you did good. 5 miles of walking is the same calories burned as 5 miles of running. I would think it would be better exercise in the snow since the snow adds resistance. It would be like running 5 miles in heavy boots with weights on your feet. Tough.Health Question & Answer
