No lectures please. I just want to know. If I was to starve myself each day, but eat my tea, how much weight could I loose weekly.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
The short answer is, most of it, because you'll die if you do it very long. The body needs certain chemicals to continue to function. It can do without them for a while, but if you starve yourself too long you cause organ failure, which can kill you or at the very least screw up the rest of your life.

The numerical answer: check how many calories a day your body needs to function based on your age, sex, and weight. There's a link below.

Multiply that number by 7, that's the calories you need per week. Now divide that number by 3500, which is the calories in a pound of fat. Roughly speaking, that's how much weight you'll lose per week with 0 calorie intake.

For example, I need 2800 calories per day, if I don't eat for a week but maintain my normal activity, then I'll have a deficit of 7 * 2800 = 19,600 calories a week, or about 5.6 pounds. At first you lose a little more as you dehydrate a bit and your bowels empty, but once most of the food is out of your system, there's only so much weight that drops a day.

You already seem to know this is a bad idea. If you're going to do it, at least read up a bit on supplements you can take to minimize the damage you do to yourself. It'd be a lot better idea, for example, to eat 1/2 of the calories you need, and pick them carefully to avoid damage.Health Question & Answer

Since we can't see you and don't know your medical history/ weight/body type, there's no way to predict how quickly you'd lose weight or how much per week. It would fluctuate, too, from week to week. Might be a lot all at once then really slow or really slow for a while then suddenly fast.

If you're serious about fasting, it really is your decision. People do it for all sorts of reasons, not just losing weight. Religion, etc. I've even had it recommended to me to get rid of my allergies. Just make sure you do the following:

take vitamins. a multivitamin and if you're female, extra calcium and iron supplements. make sure you stay healthy.
seriously consider eating foods like celery--it's a negative calorie food because it actually burns calories to process it.
vegetables are traditional diet foods because they don't have fat/types of sugars that people associate with fat. maybe do a veggies only kind of fast, instead of only having your tea.?
stay hydrated. drink lots of water. becoming dehydrated can affect your digestion. drinking lots of water can also help you lose weight, really. it flushes out your system, helps you feel more active and alert. and all that can help.
also, be prepared to go through a lot of mood changes. people often 'need' sugar or caffiene, not to mention protein, to help keep them in a good mood. even if your body handles that part well, it is very unsatisfying to not eat. our culture views food as such a part of social gatherings that it's emotionally difficult to not have food for an extended period of time.

The Science Bit:
You would lose weight, sure, but it wouldn't be worth it.
I'm not lecturing, I promise. I'm just laying some basic facts out. I just want to pass on what I know, since you're asking about this anyway.
Have you ever seen a cat that's been homeless and hasn't had access to food for a long time.? They're very skinny but they gain weight very very rapidly once they have consistent access to food again. And the weight doesn't go away. It works the same way for people.

Our bodies are designed to store fat for periods when there isn't enough food to go around. If your body is deprived of nutrients, once you ingest food again, no matter how low fat, your body will automatically begin to store as much fat as possible in case it happens again. Since your body can't tell the difference between a food shortage and your attempt to diet, it just automatically does what it's designed for. That makes it harder to lose the fat it stores once you begin to eat again. Your body will also break down muscle and use the energy contained in there.Health Question & Answer

Perhaps a few pounds in a few days, thats it.

Natrually, our bodies store fat; its a primal and evolutionary thing our bodies do to preserve our lives, because we dont know when we will eat again. Fat is stored for later use...as fuel. Today, food is readily available. But like I said, the primal thing.

By starving yourself, your body will go into a state known as " Catabolic" Basically, your body will begin to consume your muscle tissue for fuel, instead of fat, as it will hold onto the fat as long as it can

You must be young. This trips me out. Quit eating fast food and never eh EH EVER drink another soda for the rest of your life! Seriously. You can eat and hell, try execising a little, and you will drop the bodyfat.Health Question & Answer
