Light or heavy weights?!


Question: Light or heavy weights.?
I was told somewhere that light weights make you more toned and heavy weights make you bigger when working out..

Does 10-15 reps count as light or heavy weight.?

Answers:
To provide enough stimulation for increase in strength or muscles size you need to lift a weight that is about 80% of your one-rep max for each exercise.

For most people this is weight so heavy that one can only do 8-10 reps. So if you work in that rep range, you don't actually have to test your max for each exercise.

This has been established by research and published in the National Strength and Conditioning Association publications.

A beginner can lift with almost any rep scheme, e.g. 15 reps, and improve in strength for a few months. But after that the improvement will be limited unless one lifts heavier.Health Question & Answer

If you can do 10-15 reps you are doing light weights. You want to do 6 reps for building mass and strength. It doesn't mean pick any weight and do just 6 reps, you must find a weight where you can only do 6 reps. Not true, my brother does 12 reps with lighter weights, i do 8 reps with high weights. My brothers way bigger than me, probably because he has better technique and has a better diet.
