What should i eat in the morning before i head out to lift weights.? and how long should i wait before i head out.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
If you plan on eating, almost right before you lift weights, you are better off with either a meal replacement drink or protein drink.
If you are eating a regular ole meal, you would still want something high in protein with medium carbs.
That being said, you CAN get away with not eating anything at all. But a) you may not have the energy you need to get the proper intensity in your workout, and b) in the morning, your body is already in starvation mode and asking so much of your body can put you in a catabolic state i.e. or in simple terms, the environment in your body will NOT be supportive of muscle growth.
On a side note. One of the most important times to get nutrition is AFTER you work out. Within 30 minutes, down some good quality protein. Goodluck!Health Question & Answer

eat egg whites, a steak or other good portion of meat, milk or protein shake, and wheat toast. make sure you eat two hours before you go to the gym at all times. Without adequate time to digest your food your blood vessels will be working to pump blood to your digestive system to digest the food instead of pumping blood to your working muscles, making it difficult for them to grow. good luck and never eat candy for breakfastHealth Question & Answer

My nutritionist tells me to drink a whey protein smoothie before going to lift weights.

It is suppose to help with muscle growth and tone as well as maintain a healthy energy level. Plus smoothies are thick but they aren't going to make you feel stuffed, so they settle better with your work out.

Typically my wife and I have one 30 minutes before working out.Health Question & Answer
