It appears that I'm magically losing weight?!

Question: It appears that I'm magically losing weight.?
Ever since I graduated college 7 months ago, I think I've been losing weight, though I haven't been trying. I eat the same amount, and I don't eat well. I have a bagel for breakfast, sandwich for lunch, pasta at night, and eat junk on the weekend. However, I don't have a car anymore so I usually walk everywhere... and I am drinking loads of water. Still, I don't belong to a gym and don't work out or anything (besides walking).

Anyway, my clothes are starting to get real loose on me. Even my watch (a graduation gift) has slipped down from my wrist to my arm. Is it possible that my new lifestyle is making me lose weight.? I am 22 so my metabolism isn't spectacular or anything... also, if I keep this up, will I continue to lose weight.? I don't want to be too skinny.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
Simply substituting water for sodas loaded with corn syrup will reduce your intake of empty calories substantially, and walking is a great workout because it doesn't seem like one. It's very likely that those two lifestyle changes are responsible for your improved metabolism and weight loss.

If you don't want to get too skinny, then take a break and eat a big hot fudge sundae with a brownie and whipped cream whenever you feel like it.

losing weight rapidly without trying and constant thirst are signs of diabetes. I say this because the same thing happened to my husband. Go get a free blood sugar test done. It needs to be between 70-99 before eating and no higher than 120 after eating. If its 200 or higher, you might wanna consider seeking medical attention

other signs are blurry vision so if you're experiencing that from time to time, definatley get checked

good luckHealth Question & Answer

Yup, it's probably the walking that does it. If the weight loss bothers you, up your calorie intake. I don't think you'll keep losing to the point where you will be too skinny because your body will eventually get used to your current lifestyle and you aren't doing anything extreme.Health Question & Answer

i think it does have to do with your lifestyle. by drinking more water you're not getting that crap from soda. walking is great. you'll probably hit a certain point where you'll stop losing weight. dont worry too much. the only thing that will make you too skinny is if you suddenly become anorexic.Health Question & Answer

i think its that you are walking a lot more and that really helps with weight loss :/ and since ur out of school, maybe less stress and school-related pressure.?.?Health Question & Answer

Any chance you could be diabetic.? I see yHealth Question & Answer

When my sister went off to college, she lived in a small college where everything was under one roof. She put on the freshman 25. When she went off to grad school, she went to a large state university, and had to walk to and from class and also work. She lost the 25 pounds and probably another 20. She looked fantastic. There's nothing magical about it: when you burn off more than you take in, you lose weight. So yes, your new lifestyle forces you to exercise, hence, you're losing a lot of weight.

If you don't want to get too skinny, then you should hop on line, find out what your BMR is, and then keep track of your calories until you can eat sufficient quantities to keep you from causing a caloric deficit, and thus, losing more weight.

We should all have your problem!Health Question & Answer

22 is a great age for metabolism (mine is still very efficient at age 24). I think it sounds like you might not be getting enough fat and/or calories in your diet. You mention you eat "junk" during the weekends, but didn't specify what type of "junk" and how much. How much fat and calories do you estimate you get per day.? Your diet sounds like it's high carb and low fat, and a lot of people lose weight on those diets (I did, although I have lost the most when my diet is low in carbs, fat, and calories altogether). If adding fat and calories still doesn't work, you may want to get your thyroid checked. Some conditions cause weight loss no matter what you eat.Health Question & Answer
