Why am I not losing weight anymore?!

Question: Why am I not losing weight anymore.?
I'm 5'5", female, and weigh 161 pounds. I lost 15 pounds already and want to lose 70 more. I want to be about 90 pounds.

I usually eat an apple, 3 oz carrots, and a couple stalks of celery every day. On Tuesdays I have 3 oz. of chicken breast and on sundays I have 1/4 of a cup of rice.

I know I'm not eating too much and I walk 3 miles every day. I was told that I would get stronger and more energized if I stayed on a diet and exercised, but I'm not losing any weight. Meanwhile, my friend is eating like a pig and he's losing a lot of weight without exercising. It's not fair!Health Question & Answer

I don't think that you are doing trying to lose weight for the right reasons. You should want to lose weight so you can become healthier and stronger, but your weight loss goal is not only unsafe it could be deadly. At your height you should be at LEAST 120 pounds, anything less than that is too thin and 90 pounds is incredibly unhealthy. Please consult a doctor to discuss a healthy weight loss goal.

As far as what you are eating, is that all you eat in a day.? If so that is much to little food! Some people think that the less you eat the better, but when eating such limited amounts of food your body will enter starvation mode. Since you body things you are starving it, it will take any food it gets and store it as fat in preparation for the next time it feels it is being stored. That could be a reason why you are not losing weight and your friend is, you are not eating enough. Eat well balanced, sensible meals that focus on lean meats, fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy. That is the only way you will truly lose some weight.

As far as the exercise that is great to do, but not with what you are currently eating. You need to eat more food when you exercise or otherwise you will overwork and potentially harm your body.

You may want to discuss this with a doctor further if you are still uncertain about what you are hearing here.Health Question & Answer

You're body has become adapt to learning how to utilize the energy you give it, therefore, your metabolism begins to settle. And as those 3 miles begin to get easier, try jogging and building up the intensity to be able to start running 3 miles. Trust me, I know where you are right now. I was pretty out of shape last school year, but I lost alot and now I run for the school's track team. Well good luck!Health Question & Answer

Is what you listed above all that you're eating.? If so, that's not nearly enough food. Your metabolism would feel like you're being starved and would hold onto all of your weight.Health Question & Answer

well for one, what your eating for your diet is not sufficient enough in vitamins and minerals. yes, you will lose some weight, but part of what you eat helps you loose weight. so you should incorporate more fruits and breads, cuz empty calories won't help lose much weight

two, 90 pounds is defffffffinitely not a healthy weight, even for someone of your stature. being that thin can be very bad for you, and with that little amount of body fat, it can lead to medical problems, and eventually make you lose your period each month.

third, with a diet like this and exercise, it is expected that at first your going to lose a ton of weight quickly. but after a couple weeks your body will get used to your new diet, your metabolism will slow down, and it won't seem as drastic, and your body fat will learn how to live off of your little amounts of food

fourth, because we're girls, we have been cursed with the fact that its harder to lose weight for us than it is for men. they have been know to have faster metabolisms than us, and it definitely is an advantage.

sorry love
i'd say try coming up with a healthier diet, and incorporate foods that work together to burn fat. also, to continue losing weight, keep making your exercises longer and more vigorous as you goHealth Question & Answer

First off: 90 pounds is outrageous, aim for maybe 110, that's healthy.

Secondly:
It's not just what you eat, you say you exercise by walking three miles a day, you need to pick it up more on the exercise.
If you've been walking the same thing over and over again, then you need to take it up a notch. When you're walking, you're not really doing much for your cardio. Any thing that gets your heart beating faster than normal (exercise wise) is burning calories and further helping you lose weight. Instead of walking three miles, jog one and walk two.
Or if you can't jog, then go walk 3 1/2 miles, or 4 miles (you need to INCREASE your physical activity).Health Question & Answer
