How much muscle can I built from swimming?!

Question: How much muscle can I built from swimming.?
I'm a skinny guy with a fast metabolism but I want to become as strong as possible. Weightlifting hasn't really been helping, because it actually makes me lose weight and I always feel sore afterwards. So, right now I'm 5'9'' and about 145 lbs but because I have a trim figure people think I weigh less. I'd like to be at 155 or 160, maybe even more. Is that possible.?

I'm a 21 y.o. Caucasian and I've been seriously underweight for most of my adolescence. I only started bulking up this year.Health Question & Answer

Swimming isn't going to make you gain more weight than weight lifting is. Swimming is a full body work out but the exertion that you are putting forth is quite enough to build muscle. (maybe over a couple years of swimming)

The best way is the lift weights and eat and lot of nutrtional food. Every meal you eat should contain at least 30g of protein in it. Ideally you would want to eat 5-6 meals a day giving you a total of 150-180g of protein. If you are really serious you can eat around 7-8 meals a day in order to toal 250g. If you cannot eat that many meals a day I would advise you to drink a protein shake twice daily in order to reach your goal. However don't drink the protein shake and eat a nutritional meal at the same time. An adult male can only digest and use approximately 40-50g of protein in a single serving.Health Question & Answer
