*You have ARD-acid reflex disease. Take some prilosec for it.It is over the counter. One pill a day and never have to worry about it again. Take ibuprofen for aches and pains and Nyquil at night to get some sleep. It is no fun being sick.Health Question & Answer

It's probably acid reflux. Google that for a more detailed explanation, but it's basically stomach acid that comes up and spills out of your esophagus.

It can be serious because if it happens over and over again, you can get esophageal cancer from it.

Talk to your parents and see if they'll take you to the Dr. There are medications for it. In the meantime, avoid spicy food, sodas, tea, chocolate, no pepper, etc. Eat bland food like toast, bananas, meat without spices. I've heard that milk can trigger acid reflux, too.

Still, you could have a tear in the esophagus - you really need to get checked by a Dr. You could also have an ulcer - ulcers are serious and you need medication. Some ulcers are caused by H pylorii bacteria and the only way to kill it is with antibiotics.

Best wishes
JaneHealth Question & Answer

What is it: It sounds like the sore throat is a continuation of the cold/flu.
Can anyone help: One of the rules is that for the first 5-7 days, you assume a viral cause or let the body fight it off. So, wait now unless it gets worse. Of course, it is best to have a professional decide this.

What you can do: I like a Multi modal cold remedy such as NyQuil.Health Question & Answer

Well, you could have heartburn /acid reflux or since you are sick, it's probably be your sinus draining in the back of your throat down your esophagus which is irritating it. This in turn will probably turn into Bronchitis if not treated. The burning is an indication that it is heading that way. Go to the DR.Health Question & Answer
