My mom said it's okay to take her medicine...?!

Question: My mom said it's okay to take her medicine....?
She had the cold about two weeks back. She's better now, but I just recently became sick. She said it's okay to take her leftover prescribed medicine. Is this okay.? Is it hazardous in any way.? Thanks in advance.Health Question & Answer

One should never take another person's prescribed medicine. This is drug abuse. The problem is that although one might believe that they exhibit the same symptoms as the other person, one is not that person. Serious side effects may occur. Thank her for giving youher cold, wash your hands (both literally and figuratively), and make an appointment to see your health professional asap. Most pharmacists can also prescribe you medicine that would benefit you. Most of all, get well soon!Health Question & Answer

A) she should have finished it
B) Is she practicing medicine without a license.?
Yeah, I thought so - no its not right to take another persons meds.

You are increasing the chances of making germs more resitant to antibiotics, or most likely taking doses that are wrong for you....

Tell her thanks, but no thanksHealth Question & Answer

No, no, no! Too many meds are issued based on the age and weight of the person it is given to. The drug she was given could be written for her age and body type, and be too strong for you. There is not a doctor in this world that would say 'hey, go right ahead.'Health Question & Answer

It is safe. There is no cure for the common cold so they couldn't have given her anything particularly weird or dangerous. Just something to make the symptoms feel better. Drink the lot and see how you feel.Health Question & Answer

it's probably okay..like, i take my mom's prescribed pain medication, and it's the same thing as motrin basically..even a doctor said it's okay if i take some..i told him the mLHealth Question & Answer

Dont listen to the naysayer above me. Do you trust your mom.? If you do, then go for it. Im sure she wouldnt give you anything harmful. That would go against her maternal instinct.Health Question & Answer
