What can I do with my little brother injury? Should I wait until tomorrow?!

Question: What can I do with my little brother injury.? Should I wait until tomorrow.?
Well, I'm 12 and I'm watching my 5-year-old brother, we were going downstairs and he tripped and fell, he twisted his ankle, I heard a pop that moment, he put all his weight on his ankle in the fall. Now he can walk with my help, he's limping and almost can't put weight on his leg, I'm icing his leg and I elevated it. What more I can do.? Can my brother have a broken ankle.? Should I wait until tomorrow to told my parents what happened and they can take my brothe to the doctor.? I don't know what I can do to help him, he's in pain Please help me.Health Question & Answer

email me for more help gogreen4ever1056@yahoo.com
is he crying.?if so Maybe you should call the paramedics.?
but you NEED to call your parentsHealth Question & Answer

you are doin all the right stuff. probably not broken but you still need to call and tell a parent if you can. if it was broke he would not walk at all and he would still be freaking out. a broken bone also swells right away.Health Question & Answer

From the way you described it, it doesn't sound as if his ankle is broken, and it should feel better with the ice. If you are worried, maybe you can ask a neighbor.?Health Question & Answer

You are doing fine Alex and your brother's ankle is doing what would normally happen with an ankle injury. All ankle injuries swell, turn black and blue, hurt and cause trouble bearing weight. It very well could be broken but I have seen a lot of ankle injuries that heard a pop and it ended up being a tendon snapping. Your brother has all of the signs that require an x-ray be taken because he could have torn off a small piece of bone where the tendon attaches. This is a common and easily corrected injury. Tell your parents because he will feel better in an ace wrap and splint. The doctor will wait for the swelling to go down before he would put a cast on it (if it is broken). By the way, I am proud of how you handled the injury but I wouldn't go to yahoo to get an answer that your parents could answer a lot faster. Here is a pearl that is used in the medical community. Sprain/strain treat with R I C E (rest, ice compression, elevation). Always worked for me. Hang in there you might just have a future in medicine. Good luck and I hope your brother heals faster.Health Question & Answer
