Kind of a gross health question...but please help?!

Question: Kind of a gross health question...but please help.?
Recently, I've eaten a lot of crappy foods and my defecation has been strained. I've put more veggies and fruits in my diet to make it easier but they still haven't taken much effect. Anyways, its painful to defecate and I just kind of hold it in...and now I have a kind of red, tender area around my anus. Why is this and how do I make it go away.? I apologize, this is really gross.Health Question & Answer

You're definitely constipated. If you did have a hemorrhoid, you would see bright red blood when you wipe. Then you would have to see a doctor for medication to make it go away.
The first thing you need to do is get a laxative like Dulcolax. Use that once only. (Once a month if needed; no more than that.) It'll work overnight gently and make you feel so much better.
In the same aisle as the laxatives are stool softeners. They are harmless and will really help you. Get the generic 100 Mg's ducosate sodium. You can take 1 or 2 every night. Ask the pharmacist if you have any questions.
also take Metamucil or Citrucel 1-3 times a day. Add more fiber to your diet! Fruits and veggies every day! Hi-fiber cereal. Drink lots of water. Cut out soda pop, sugar, and white flour.
Lastly, exercise. (Yuk, I know) Find something cardio that you can do 6 days a week for at least 25 minutes without stopping. A brisk walk is great. Or running, treadmill, stationary bike, real bike, or even dancing in your living room! Make sure you get warm.
If you do all these things, honey, you'll be one happy girl. That redness will go away. If it itches you can put hydrocortisone 1% on it. :)Health Question & Answer

I would suggest Senna Tea before bed (usually found in the "natural" or organic food area in most grocery stores), and increase in water consumption (2-3 litres a day, if possible) and perhaps a fiber supplement for a couple days.? If you get to the point where the pain is unbearable or you haven't had a BM in a week, I would suggest a trip to your primary care doctor to make sure it isn't due to an underlying issue.Health Question & Answer

Sounds like it could be hemorrhoids. Or the beginning phase of it. Do you have an itch down there.? Or maybe bright red blood streaks when you wipe.?

When you use the restroom, raise your feet off the ground by 5-6 inches with something. (Like phone books or shoe box). This will bring your knees closer to your stomach/chest and definitely will help.

You could also use a little bit of fiber in your diet. If it's hard for you to get fiber through your diet (brown rice, wheat breads, veggies, fruits, etc), you could try Metamucil. But remember to start small and work your way up. Shocking your system with too much fiber at once could have adverse effects. also constipation is from lack of water, so work your way up in drinking more water. Spread it throughout the day.

If in doubt, definitely check with your doctor.Health Question & Answer

If you're straining, you're experiencing mild constipation. Take a tablespoon of mineral oil to clear the system. It's tasteless but the consistency is kind of gross. You can apply some hydrocortisone to the sore area but the soreness will go away in a day or two after you've regulated.Health Question & Answer

First you need to eat more fruits like grapes, pears, or prune juice. Stay away from fatty foods and greasy foods. The red and tender area is from straining, if you ever notice small amounts of bright red blood on the tissue paper it could be a fissure which is a small tear in the anus and is normal. Try to add more fiber to your diet. If it doesnt improve in a couple weeks, you should seek a doctor.Health Question & Answer

I would suggest go to a doctor immediately. They would give you some pills to make to help you defecate.

If you already have a red tender area around your anus, really, forget home remedies, or constipation pills you get from the market, just go visit the doctor.Health Question & Answer

Could be hemorrhoids from the straining, or just irritation. You need more fiber in your diet and could probably benefit from drinking more water. also, to help things along, try eating prunes.Health Question & Answer
