Too much cough syrup?!
Question: Too much cough syrup.?
So I've had a horrible cough for two days now, causing me to sleep very little last night, and have very little patience at this point. In a huff, I just unscrewed the top to my Tussin CF (contains DXM, Guiafenesin, and Phenylephrine) and just took a swig. Bad idea. I probably took 1-2 ounces rather than the 2 teaspoon dosage. I just want to go to bed and try to get some sleep (for the first time in 30+ hours...) Should I be worried about having OD symptoms.?Health Question & Answer

No a "swig" isn't nearly enough to make you OD on cough medicine, I chugged a whole bottle in October and I had a stomachache for an hour or two and that's all, you'll be fine! also a shot of whiskey keeps you from coughing WAY better than any cough syrup will ever do. My parents used to mix a shot of whiskey in with some honey and sugar when I was little and it kept me from coughing for 9/10 hours!Health Question & Answer
