Would you change doctors if you had a bad experience with the staff?!

Question: Would you change doctors if you had a bad experience with the staff.?
This is a LONG story, but I recently had a bad experience with the staff at my doctors office. I just changed my insurance, so i had to switch from my wonderful doctor to another one i wasnt familiar with. My new doctor is great, but the nurse forgets things and the staff is horrible.

Bcckground Info:
Basically, i came in to pick up a prescription sheet that the nurse said would be up at the front two weeks ago. The problem was the prescription wasnt there when i came so they asked me to wait while they get the nurse/doctor to rewrite it. So i waited for about 10 minutes and she came back. I looked at the prescription the doctor wrote and it was the wrong one! So i told the staff and they said well what prescription do you need. I showed them the prescription and said i already discussed it with the nurse 2 weeks ago( i needed a 3 month supply and she was fine with that). I wasnt out of pills yet, but since i was a new patient i needed the prescription for next month but i didnt know if i would have to mail it in. Thats why the nurse said to come before it runs out. So the glared at me like i was crazy, than went back again and dropped the pills at the doctors table (with my pills that havent ran out). I waited for 15 minutes and asked her would it be easier if i came back tomorrow (the doctor was busy and it wasnt urgent) and she said the doctor is with a patient itll be a couple more minutes... i waited for 15 minutes longer and knew i had other things to attend to and since the doctor was busy i knew it was best that I come back tomorrow. The original lady wasnt there, but another one was. I didnt want to go through the story again so i told her i had some pills at the doctors table. I've been waiting for awhile and i had other things to do, can she get them for me. The lady made a big deal out of it and asked me to tell her everything what happened. I didnt want to tell her the story because the office was full of people in the waiting room just looking at me the whole time through all of this. I said its a long story and i just needed my pills back(i have to take them daily). She wouldnt do it and kept on asking me questions i told her what happened twice. At the time even i was getting confused. She glared at me the whole time and then told me to sit down and wait. I was annoyed, embarassed and frusterated but i was trying not to let it show. She came back 5 minutes later and gave me my pills back, but she then told me next time wait for the nurse to call me instead of me coming in (the nurse told me it was ready 2 weeks ago!). I was annoyed and didnt want to get into it again so i said thank you and walked out.

Maybe i am making a big deal out of nothing, but i feel that if i didnt want to wait an hour for a prescription that should of been ready 2 weeks ago, i shouldnt have too. I understood the doctor was busy and felt i shouldnt have to wait for them to finish the patients when i had other appts. Do you think that this is a valid reason to change my doctor or should i just deal with the staff... i've never had this happen to me before at a doctor office. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I'd definitely switch to another.

Hey, you pay medical insurance therefore you pay their salaries; the least they can do is provide you with good customer service - yes, you are a paying customer, not some charity case that they're helping "out of the goodness of their hearts".

also, the idea of them giving you the wrong prescription is pretty scary - it's a good thing you checked. In this case, it seems trivial, but imagine you were in a bad accident (lets hope that never happens), and you end up in the hospital - what if they gave you some drug that you are allergic to just because they were too lazy to double-check your records, and you weren't conscious enough to check what they were giving you.? That could prove a fatal mistake!

Healthcare is a huge industry. If you're paying for it, then they better do the job well - there are tons of other places that would love to have your business.Health Question & Answer
