Question: I sneezed and blocked my nose, my ear pains, help.?!.?
I sneeze and usually block my nose, now my ear is sore inside and have water ear wax. I am scared. I can hear BUT not to well at some points. Any advice. THANKSHealth Question & Answer

This happens quite often you oral (mouth) cavity and aural (ear) cavity are connected by the eustachian tube. so if you sneeze and try to hold it in the pressure and power of that sneeze has to go somewhere. This usually hurts then goes away after a while, there is rarely permanent damage, but that doesn't mean there never is.
some people have some anatomical abnormalities that makes them more prone to damage, and even normal anatomy can be prone to barotrauma or a pressure injury. If your hearing and/or balance have been affected or if you feel you have new liquid coming out of your ear since this injury you may need to see an Ear Nose & Throat specialist.
look out for fever, pain lasting more than 1 hour or re-occuring pain, change in hearing, dizzyness, loss of balance & nausea. it there is any doubt go see a dr. better to be safe than sorry.
