Lots of questions re: broken ankle!! :D?!

Question: Lots of questions re: broken ankle!! :D.?
I broke my ankle 3 weeks ago and dislocated a bone in it also. I had an operatation on it the day after I broke it, and I was discharged from hospital the following day. Now, I had 22 staples (clips.?) in it and it was pretty swollen - so much in fact, I had to return to get the cast changed. My toes were blue lol.
They were a little concerned that it was so red and swollen, but when I went back in a weeks time the swelling had subsided and had the clips removed. They seemed happy with it although the wound was still a little on the red side.
Now, I am anaemic. Does this interfer with recovery.? The cast is due off in 2.5 weeks. How long will it be before I get back to the gym.? Will I be able to wear my stilettos again. Will I need the crutches after I get the cast off.?
Please, tell me anything you think will be of benefit.

First and foremost ask your doctor. Every case is different and he will have the best advice for you.

As a medic I would tell you to take it easy on your ankle when you get the cast off. Talk to a physical therapist about going back to the gym. You will be able to work out again but take it slow. You don't want to re-agrivate the site of the break and put you back in the ER.

I would suggest having the crutches for the first week back just to take a little of the weight off the ankle. Don't support your weight fully with your injured ankle however don't rely on your crutches for more then support.

Take is easy and take your time. You'll be back in your heels in no time.Health Question & Answer
