Is my pulse too low (46) on beta blocker?!

Question: Is my pulse too low (46) on beta blocker.?
my doctor recently put me on a beta blocker for my migraines called Inderal. It's helping with the migraines but I notice that my resting pulse rate is quite low for me. When I wasn't on this medication it was around 75. ever since I started taking this pill it stays around 46. I don't feel dizzy or anything but I do always feel foggy headed. Is this okay or is this worth calling my doctor about.?Health Question & Answer

its low enough to be symptomatic... be worthwhile calling your doc..if you can get in for a while..try halfing the tabletHealth Question & Answer

yes, call your doctor. Normal pulse for adults is from 60-100 beats a minute. Your doctor may or may not have known about this side effect. If he or she was unaware that this was going to happen (which they probably were since 46 is kind of low) then they will probably either change your prescription, or prescribe you something else that will help increase your heart rate. Calling only takes a few minutes so definitely call as soon as you can - your body needs adequate blood flow to function.

If you feel any dizziness, lightheadedness, become real pale, feel tingly like pins and needles, have chest pain, or shortness of breath, then that's a sign that you're not getting enough blood and oxygen to your tissues and organs, some of which can't take interrupted blood flow for too long like the heart and brain. I'd highly recommend ER if any of the previous symptoms develop, or call the ER and tell them your situation and see if they recommend you come in first.
