Help! Almost fainted and felt terrible while watching video of a surgery?!

Question: Help! Almost fainted and felt terrible while watching video of a surgery.?
A few days ago during my anatomy class we watched a video of a knee surgery. Beforehand I was actually looking forward to it, but then when I started watching, I started to feel really weird...First I was just a little dizzy/light-headed but then it got way worse to the point where I could barely hold my head up, and thought for sure I'd faint. I got really hot and shaky and all the time had to keep paying attention. This has NEVER happened to me before, and I'm usually completely fine while looking at even the grossest pictures of conditions/diseases, but had never really seen a video of a surgery before, and this one wasn't bloody at all.

I am SURE i felt this way because of the video, since beforehand I felt fine and after I did as well. So what was it about seeing this surgery that almost made me faint and is there anyway I can prevent feeling so terrible during the next one.?Health Question & Answer

This is a mind over matter problem that you can overcome with supreme and extreme will power. You allowed yourself to cave in without resisting. Perhaps you could try switching off during the next surgery video and tell yourself that it is only a replay and you are not actually seeing the real thing as a direct telecast. A direct telecast could be very painful to watch or even worse if you are watching a real operation in a hospital through an observers window. Some people have actually fainted when they were required to observe a real operation as it was being done.Health Question & Answer
