Any Doctors In The House??? Urgent, I am in Pain.?!

Question: Any Doctors In The House.?.?.? Urgent, I am in Pain..?
I believe I have an ear infection and I went to the doctor and he gave me some drops. I have been using them as prescribed but this morning I woke up to my ear throbbing in pain. As well as some major swelling. I can't even fully close my mouth, it's starting to effect my jaw and eating habits (it hurts to eat). I also can barely hear anything out of it.
What is going on.? Will I have to get surgery.? What is happening.?

Any advice or input or knowledge on this, please let me know.
Thanks in Advance.Health Question & Answer

Hey Awkward!

Well definitely go back or see another doctor. Ear drops may help in certain cases, but if you have an infection, why did you not get antibiotics.? If the pain is now effecting your jaw and face, it does sound like an infection of sorts, and no drops will help that.

I wish you well and drop me a note sometime and let me know how you are! Good Luck.

Peace:)Health Question & Answer

If the doctor saw you and gave you drops, all is well. You most likely have a middle ear infection. The doctor should have told you what your have.?

If the infection is bacterial, you are probably taking antibiotics. If it is viral, your condition will resolve in 7-10 days, each day getting better and better.

Naturally you feel the pain when you eat as opening your mouth impinges upon the Eustachian tube which connects the middle ear to the back of your mouth. The infection has caused that area to become inflamed.

No surgery. I imagine that you are not 2-8 years of age and so you probably don't have otitis media. Many adults get ear aches from time to time.

Be patient. Drink your fluids. Floss your teeth (good oral hygiene can prevent a lot of infections) and be well.Health Question & Answer

Ok I am a Grandmother and have 67 years of life experience so what I have to say has worked for many years.

If you have Sinus medication take it, it will help kill the pain in your ears and dry out the ear canals.

Next is mouthwash with Hydrogen Peroxide, it will absorb into the gums and kill pain in your mouth, gums right to the ear canal and jaw bone.

One more suggestion is an ear wash. 1 Tbsp. warm water, 1 Tbsp.
vinegar, 1 Tbsp. alcohol, pour it into the ears. The warmth will help with the pain, alcohol evaporates out the moisture and vinegar will help correct the ph balance in the ear. (My husband was a diver and this was always very helpful for swimmers ear) That is what it sounds like you have.

You can also dribble a little hydrogen peroxide into the ear. It bubbles into the canal and kills pain ...

Good Luck.Health Question & Answer

Sorry, I'm not a doctor but I have just recovered from a pretty bad ear infection. Iw as given drops and it got worse so I went to A & E because it was so bad and given amoxicillin. No surgery just pills.Health Question & Answer

Please do NOT pour ANYTHING into your ears that has not been recommended by a doctor. I would strongly recommend going back to your doctor.

I had an ear ache about 12 or so years ago that was not treated properly and I now have permanent issues with balance and get frequent "tube" hearing.Health Question & Answer

You need to get back to the doctor before your eardrum bursts.Health Question & Answer
