average wait is 1/2 hour. 1 hour is on the long side. i used to have people wait 2 to 3 hours for me, but it is not expected and unacceptable for the doctor to be running that far behind. however with that said, if you feel you cannot wait any longer because of other important events happening in your life on that day, then you ought to check if your doctor's office has a policy of rescheduling your appointment after waiting 1/2 hour or more. if no policy, then you may want to think about changing doctors.Health Question & Answer
