Anyone have any ideas on how to quit smoking?!

Question: Anyone have any ideas on how to quit smoking.?
And I don't mean taking a walk after a meal or chewing gum..I've tried all that, it doesn't help.

I have tried the patch, the gum, the lozenges, the spray, none of it has worked. I don't know if it's me really not wanting to quit (because I really truly do, I just enjoy smoking, that's the bad part) or if those products just don't work.

I seriously cannot quit cold turkey. I have tried so many times and I get frustrated and pissed off and makes me want a cig even more. I have a 4 year old and I quit no problem when I was pregnant with him but when I stopped breast feeding, I never wanted a cigarette more in my life. I do not want him to smoke. I want to set a good example but it's so fricken hard...

Anyone have any ideas on medications, herbs, hypnosis's working.?, or anything else that has helped them quit.?.?.?.?.?

Anything would help. Not only am I slowly killing myself and everyone around me, I hate smelling like *** all the time and it's to damn expensive!!!

Thanks for any input!!!!Health Question & Answer

I recently quit myself.
It was difficult because I too enjoyed smoking, but I had to do more than just want to quit. All smokers want to quit, but to make the commitment is the hard part.
You have to decide to commit to becoming smoke free and then do it. Everyday is a struggle and if you're looking for an easy way out you will never find it, but just because it's difficult doesn't mean it's impossible.
Sure, smoking is enjoyable, but you know what's more enjoyable.? Breathing, running, not coughing up black ****. The struggle is worth it and it gets easier with time.
I used the gum as a tool to curb the cravings, everyone is different. You can't expect any treatment to make the addiction go away completely. You need will power.
I hope you find your inspiration to quit, good luck to you.Health Question & Answer

I am in the same boat your floatin in...Try chantix...i have heard many people say that quitting smoking with this drug really worked. it makes you sick to your stomach after you take this pill. you need a prescription for it and the possible side effects are nightmares. If you can handle that I would suggest talking to your doctor..Cigarettes are bad for our health!!! And they just keep getting more expensive!!!Health Question & Answer

wanting to smoke is all in the brain. you have to want to quit in order to completely quit smoking. every time you have a craving, you can find something similar to a cigarette and just chew on that and keep doing it. I helped my best friend quit and he's been smoke free for almost a year now :)Health Question & Answer

I tried to quit for years. In fact I did quit...many times.

A couple of years ago, I read "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr.

I smoked all I wanted while I read it cover to cover...I haven't smoked since. And I don't feel deprived.

I got the book at Barnes and Noble for $13.00. Best investment I ever made.Health Question & Answer

I quit over a year ago with Chantix..WOW..I couldn't believe I did it. I had 1 goofy dream and no other side effects. My workplace went smoke-free and about 30 of us quit, and have still quit. I highly recomend it, however you really do need to WANT to quit also.. Good luck!!Health Question & Answer

Just stop buying the stupid packages, and resist temptation.Health Question & Answer

I feel for you, I go through this with my own bad habit. I can give it up for 5 days or so, then I break down and can't fight the impulse.

I honestly don't think we can change our behaviors until we're 100% convinced that the change is necessary - they key being you can't still like doing it. At some point hopefully, you'll get to a point where the idea of smoking disgusts you so much, you'll have a much easier time quiting. Even if only 2% of you wants to smoke, after a few days you'll give in again.Health Question & Answer

Try to quit with a friend. If you have a friend that smokes too, and you two have talked about quitting before, try to quit together. It'll increase your chance of success because then you would have support, motivation, and inspiration.

Here are some things that can subsitute for cigarettes.

Toothpicks
Lollipops
Carrot or Celery sticks
Sunflower seeds
Chewing Gum
Mints
Coffee Stirrers

And try not to buy the ciagrettes. Then, at the end of the day, you don't even have the option to get them.

I'm not a smoker, I just got some info from other people. So I hoped I, them, we, whoever helped lol.Health Question & Answer
