What happens when you injure your temple?!

Question: What happens when you injure your temple.?
Several months ago or maybe even more than that, I injured by temples because I jerked my head back really hard right into the sharp corner of a table. I know that on that day I started feeling dizzy and stuff, and now I think there is still some slight pain on my temples. I've noticed that its been sensitive there ever since and it does hurt if I press on it.

Is this really bad.?
Could I have injured my brain/mind or my skull in any way.?
Is there anything I can do to make it heal.?

Thanks. If you could provide me with any extra information, that would also be great, because I looked everywhere and there wasn't really any info. on the temples. Thanks again ;)Health Question & Answer

It's difficult to say what really happened. However, I am foreseeing some scary answers like that first answer there. Don't listen to them.

The area around your temples is fairly weak, and the skull there is the thinnest. Therefore, it's pretty easy to hurt yourself badly. However, if you're still alive now, you're totally fine - if you damage an artery beneath the skull at the temples, and it's bad, it takes only a few hours to die. What happens is blood slowly seeps out of the artery, and eventually this area swells due to all the blood. Your skull contains the brain in a tight space, so the brain has nowhere to go if there is swelling. If the swelling is bad enough, it begins to compress other areas of the brain, and may result in death. But as I said, that takes a few hours and it is EXTREMELY rare.

So, no, you did not damage anything permanently. Because it is a weak area, it may take a little longer to heal. Dizziness also frequently happens when you hit your head really hard - especially this close to the eyes!!

If I press on my temples hard enough right now, it hurts. I think your temples are just generally more sensitive (because they "know" they are a weak area), so if you press hard, it'll hurt. Nothing wrong with that. Is it in both temples.? If yes, then it's normal.

Soooooooooo don't worry about it :) I'm glad you're ok, but I think you're worried too much about it. I can see why, but your body is a lot tougher than you think - trust it :) I've hit my temples numerous times on various sharp corners (I'm talented that way) and I'm totally fine, though it hurts soooo much when you first do it. Just try not to do it again :)Health Question & Answer

Well your lucky you didnt kill yourself right at the smack on the temple, if had fallen onto your temple on the corner of a bench or table or somehting you can kill yourself, you should go to the doctor soon because It could be internal bleeding or something, some brain injurys can kill people way after the actual 'injuring' like that lady at Whistler who crashed while skiing, said she was fine then died later from brain hemmorhage or somethinHealth Question & Answer
