Question: Can I correct my limp caused because of a broken leg 7 years ago. Because of this my one leg is 3 cm longer...?
Hi, I have had serious accident about 7 years before. And had a broken leg. Because of which I have my one leg which is shorter than the other. The difference is about 3 CM. Ever since I have a small limp. Is there a way I can correct it.?Health Question & Answer

You don't state how old you are so if you are older than say seventeen the idea of having a lengthening procedure is sort of out of the question. The easiest and least painful way is to add a lift to the shoe. See an orthotist about this. The lift can be constructed partly on the inside and the rest on the outside of the shoe. This can be done on vertually any shoe. This will eliminate the limp and also save you from having lower back issues later in life. To see how this feels take the shoe off that is on the longer leg. Walk around the house like this. There should be a lessening of the limp. If that works see an orthotist.Health Question & Answer

Not sure how old you were when this happened but what it sounds like happened is that you broke your leg across your growth plate 7 years ago. when this happens the broken extremity no longer grows while the uninjured one does. I'm sure there is a surgery that could lengthen that one leg, but i think that is severe. go to a podiatrist and he could design a lift you insert in your shoe for the shorter leg that would stop your limp. This would be a much cheaper and less evasive resolution.Health Question & Answer

Only surgery will correct it. I've seen shows where they are able to lengthen one leg a little bit at a time. Have you tried dressing like a thug and just acting like it's your gangsta strut.?Health Question & Answer
