Any advice to help heal a burn?!

Question: Any advice to help heal a burn.?
I've already asked a question about this burn. It occurred on Sept. 9
It's no longer infected but it's not healing. It was a cigarette burn and I'm extremely hesitant about seeing a doctor because it was self-inflicted.
I've been a self-injurer pretty much all my life (I'm now 34) but I've never burned myself before. I did it to motivate myself to stop the smoking habit (in order to change bad traits in myself, all my life, I have to make good and/or bad associations to the habit
Answers:
yes, you CAN speed the healing process by having a healthy diet, eating protein etc. you can speed it just like you can easily slow it down. My recommendation is to see your doctor. i know you don't want to tell him it's self inflicted but your doctor is there for you, he isn't going to turn you away because you did it to yourself. There are SO many people who self injure and show up in the hospital, you are not the only one so don't think that. an injury is an injury is an injury, the doctor is not going to decide whether or not to treat you based on how it happened. You are best to seek help for your wound and maybe it will even help you stop the self injury. also, try nicotine patches and other medications to help stop smoking, they really do work. Nicotine is addictive (as you know) so don't feel bad that you can't just quit cold turkey. you should be very proud of yourself for trying to quit!Health Question & Answer

I agree with Jazzy on the aloe; I once burned myself pretty badly with hot oil (got splashed when the fried chicken I was turning slipped out of the tongs & fell back into the pan) so I cut some aloe from the plant in the garden, peeled back the outer layer & applied the inner part to the burns, repeating often. They healed very quickly & without leaving any type of mark or scar. We've also used bottled aloe vera gel on sunburns with great success.Health Question & Answer

Yeah, leave the bandage off. Might be a good idea to get yourself checked out. the poor would healing indicates a potential underlying problem.

Nothing can speed the healing process. Plenty of things can interfere with healing. Just leave the bandage off. Some people like vitamin E cream later - they think it helps the scar/dicoloration disappear. Health Question & Answer

It doesn't scab over it dries out zinc oxide works well on burns when you bandage it don't cover completely. I know you don't want a lecture but there are better ways to change behaviors.Health Question & Answer

Yes, leave the bandage off so the wound can dry out.

Apply Lavender essential oil to heal your burn. It will also assist with pain if you have any.

Another alternative to Lavender, would be from the Aloe Vera Plant. Break off a stem and slit open with a knife. Use the meaty flesh within and apply to your burn.

Along with Aloe Vera or Lavender essential oil, use Vitamin E from a capsule source. Use a pin to puncture the capsule and apply directly on your burn. Not only will it promote healing, but it will assist in prevention of scarring.

Aloe vera is also available in a health food store as is Lavender essential oil and Vitamin E capsules.Health Question & Answer
