Question: Interstitial cystitis flare-ups..?
I have Interstitial Cystitis. I get flare-ups from time to time and they usually last a few days. I got one suddenly today and it's worse than they have been in a long time.
Normally it wouldn't be of any concern. I'd deal with it as I normally do. However, I have school tomorrow. It's very uncomfortable having to use the restroom every 10 minutes and on top of that having to deal with this terrible pain. I'm considering staying home from school, but some part of me feels guilty (even though i'm in pain!).
Anyone with IC have any advice.? I'm stumped as to what I should do. Health Question & Answer

I.C hurts.I know,me too.Stay home and drink lots of water,avoid spicy foods-tomatoes,caffeine,greasy foods.Just go with as much water and a boring,bland diet for a few days.Hey don't stress it out,take care of you.You'll be miserable at school so stay home and chill.Have a friend bring your classwork and do your work in BED,EHealth Question & Answer
Don't feel guilty! Try to eliminate any substances which make the condition worse, namely stimulants or diuretics like caffeine. Your frame of mind (mind over matter) can actually help, too. Try and train yourself to control urges to eliminate a tablespoon of urine. I suffer from the syndrome and have had to sometimes exert extreme control over my organs. Still, you have a legitimate physical condition, don't turn it into a mental one as well.Health Question & Answer
See if you or if someone you live with can get you some Azo Standard
from walgreens or walmart, it cost about $6 or so, but it should help out with the pain and with having to go to the BR often.
(Azo Standard - they're red pills, that will turn your pee orange color, so you will have to be careful not to stain the toilet or your clothes)
