hi my bf is really ill with a kind of dhiorria (if thts how u spell it) and keeps going to the toilet every so often but its very watery and doesnt really have much poo in. he has had this for 1 day and im woried bout him.? what has caused it and shud he go to the doctors or is it nything to worry bout.? best remedy is starvation and rehydration. Dioralyte powders are usually given by the GP and are available over the counter. reintroduce bland food (scrambled egg, toast, porridge etc) after 24 hours and if re-occurs starve again for another 24 hours. As long as he is keeping water down and is not dehydrating he should be okay.
I would try to manage it yourself for longer than 24 hours before contacting your GP. My children have gone 48 hours and our GP wasn't concerned too much as water was being kept down, obviously if this isn't the case see your GP straightaway.Health Question & Answer

He may getting rid of whatever is disagreeing with his body-so you might want to hold off on the anti-diarrhea meds. It could potentially worsen his situation by not allowing the bad organisms to leave his body.
As long as his "problem" isn't accompanied by any other symptoms (fever, vomiting, etc) and it doesn't last for longer than 24 hours-he should be ok. If he does have other symptoms then you might want to seriously consider taking him to the doctor.
It might be an underlying digestive issue (like Chron's Disease) but if it goes away, he shouldn't worry about it.
Make sure that he stays hydrated-electrolyte laced drinks are the best for him right now. Try to avoid sprite (it taste good, but doesn't have any sustenance)

It's important for him to NOT take anything to try to stop the diarrhea, because that will cause the germs to stay in his body and do more damage. If he poops any amount of blood, he should go to the emergency room.
Otherwise, keep him hydrated and be sure both of you wash your hands a LOT. Use bleach to clean the doorknobs and the toilet, especially the toilet handle. If you're not careful about hand washing and cleaning things he touches, you'll probably get sick too.

Just make sure he drinks plenty of water as he will be rather dehydrated without even knowing it. It will help clear his system quicker too. If he continues to be sick for more than 24 hours, he should see the GP just to be on the safe side.Health Question & Answer
