Question: Swallowed a screw WITHOUT sharp edges.?.?
My 4 year old swallowed a very small screw with 2 flat edges, is it necessary to take her to the ER.? Anyone have experience with this.? Do you think she will pass it.? Thanks!Health Question & Answer

The only thing the ER will do is take an x-ray and expose your daughter to radiation she simply doesn't need. Make sure she eats some bread and that will coat the metal screw and allow it to pass through her intestines without causing damage. It's not uncommon for children to swallow coins, screws, etc.
Since it was small, it should pose no problem. I would watch her and check her poop to see when it comes out. It typically should take about 2 or 3 days.

I wouldn't risk it and just take her. It still has the point at the end and could mess something up. It's a small price to pay to take her to the ER just in case it could cause bigger problems in the future.

well in my experiences with my younger brothers and sisters there is Absolutely no worry unless she complains of pains or by some chance gets hurt trying to pass it but in my opinion she is perfectly fine:)Health Question & Answer
