I'm 15 and have bad knees. Why?!

Question: I'm 15 and have bad knees. Why.?
Hi all,
I'm 15 and not over weight (bmi 18).
The problem is that when I exercise (running, walking and Kung Fu) i get a horrible pain in both knees...
this happens after about 5 minutes. Doing the horse stance then sprinting can't help. Does anyone have any ideas on what i may be doing wrong.?
Thanks HarryHealth Question & Answer

Yep, I had the same thing. It's called osgood schlatter disease. It's not actually a disease, but you get pain in your knees when you are active in sports. I played hockey, soccer, and football, and my knees were getting extremely bad.

osgood schlatter disease is when your knee grows faster than the rest of your leg. Your going through a growth spurt at the moment, which is why your knee is giving you pains.

What I did when my knee started to hurt, when I got home from practises/games, I iced it for about 30 minutes. I also find if I sit cross leged, it will hurt after 10 minutes. If you go to the doctors, he will be able to identify it within minutes. It's a common thing.Health Question & Answer

check ur arches in ur feet. most likely you have flat feet and this is causing knee problems. one way to check this is to take ur socks and shoes off and stand on a level surface or ground. if ur arches cave in then i would recomend going to get orthodics(spelling). this is the same thing that is wrong with my knees. i blew out my acl last year. and my flat feet contributed to the tear. hope this helps for you!!!Health Question & Answer
