I had the same problem with my ear this morning. I was bawling like a high school girl after she got stood up on prom night. I tried putting a warm wash cloth over my ear...it kind of worked. Then I tried the cold compress method. It WORKED. I put some ice and water in a plastic bag and put a paper towel over it, then held it up to my ear. After a few minutes my ear popped a few times, and TADA. My ear didn't feel clogged anymore and there was no more pain. I was quite happy.Health Question & Answer

This might sound odd, but it really helps. tilt your head or lay down, then poor Hydrogen Peroxide into the plugged ear. Let it soak for 1 or 2 minutes. Then put a napkin or tissue up to your ear and tilt your head so that it can drain.
Make sure you keep your head tilted long enough to allow it drain. You might want to use a cotton tip to clean your ear afterward to remove any wax that the peroxide loosened.

You should see a big difference when your done.
I hope this helps.Health Question & Answer

Your doc is right. Your eustachian tube may be blocked and may clear with time and decongestants. Could be a wax problem too, but would have to look in your ear canal to tell.Health Question & Answer

There are a lot of different methods you can try. And I saw the answers from other people that were left for you, they are all methods that can work. Might not hurt to try one of them. If there is no infection, then it might just be that your Eustachian tubes are filled with fluid, which can happen right after a cold. I don't know any good methods of my own that I have tried, that I can tell you about it. Usually when this happens to me, I just let nature run it's course and let it go. They eventually open on there own, it can take a while. However, one method I have been told about is get a little bit of Vick's Vapo Rub and just rub a little bit of that behind the effected ear. It's something with the vapors that can help unblock an ear. I have tried this one for myself, but it did not work for me, won't always work for everyone though. Different methods work for different people. I hope this helps you though if you decide to try it, and good luck.Health Question & Answer
