I was in a car accident...help?!

Question: I was in a car accident...help.?
I was driving to school today and got in a three car accident. An suv hit another car, who in turn rear ended me pretty hard. After it happened, and i was at school, i started to feel dizzy and nauseous. My upper back is aching really bad and my neck hurt for a while..but my neck doesnt hurt as bad anymore. also, I have had a horrible headache all day and a little sensitive to light. Im really tired too. Does this have to do with the accident.? Whats wrong with me.? What should i do.?Health Question & Answer

More than likely you are suffering from that term "whiplash." This might clear on its own but it might actually get worse over the next few days. Experience has taught me that even if you feel better in a few days there was damage done to your neck and upper back. This micro-trauma might not come back to haunt you now but some time in the future it will. My advice is to start with a doctor and go from there. The doctor will most likely refer you to a physical therapist. They will work with you on strengthening those areas that were involved in the accident. See your family doctor as soon as possible. In the meantime use ice on the area for fifteen to twenty minutes per hour. This will stop the swelling and decrease the pain. Avoid the use of aspirin as it has an anti-coagulation factor and this will promote any internal bleeding. Use the ice instead.Health Question & Answer

Probably whip lash from getting rear ended. hurry to the doctor to get your diagnosis. you'll probably need to go to a chiropractor for a while to readjust your neck which could be pinching a nerve. also after the first 72 hours of your injury i'd look into seeing a massage therapist to help relax those muscles in your neck that have probably tightened up and splinted your neck. Before you go to the doctor Icing your neck and rest is the best possible thing you can do for yourself. Hope you feel better!Health Question & Answer

Clearly something is going on. You need to get in to the Doctor for an Xray and examination, Then the Doctor may suggest an MRI.

Damage to ligaments and other soft tissues can take a while to become fully inflamed... and can take forever to heal.

Now is not the time to worry, it's the time to get into the Doctor IMMEDIATELY or the emergency room if you must.Health Question & Answer
