I just want to sleep...?!

Question: I just want to sleep....?
Ok, so I've just come back from holidays and so far all I've wanted to do is sleep. I've been getting massive mood swings and I've been perpetually tired the entire time. Is there something wrong with me.?

I've had a problem with this before, I've taken iron supplements for it so do I need them again.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
It might be an idea to try the iron again and see if that helps. I do that once in a while too. You can also get tested to see if you're deficient in iron.

also, did you lose a lot of sleep on your vacation.? There seem to be 2 types of vacations: one is the restful, lay on the beach, golf or relaxing type and the other is partying until dawn and burning the candle out at both ends. If you had the latter of the two, you may just need sleep and try taking some vitamins to replenish your system. Drinking alcohol can also deplete your system as well.

I think that people fool themselves into thinking that they can get by on very little sleep but the truth is that your body actually seems to make it up at some point in the future.

Your body will let you get away with it for a period of time but then exhaustion will set in and you will find yourself needing to have a round the clock snooze. The body apparently has to make it up at some point in the future, even if it's a month down the road.

Your mood swings could also be fatigue related.

Vacations can be actually quite stressful - the flight, moving around from one location to another, partying, jet lag etc. - everything new. It can be really exciting but it can also wear you out. If you need to sleep, I would say, just get the extra sleep that you need until you're all caught up and don't feel guilty about it. Vacations can be stressful, even if it's a good stress. If you still feel pretty played out after lots and lots of rest, then maybe you should go to the doctor and get your blood tested to make sure that you're not iron deficient or have any other problems. By the way, iron does have a toxicity level. A good paperback for quick reference of vitamins and any existing toxicity levels is "Earl Mindel's Vitamin Bible". It lists what the vitamins are good for, and maximum dosages etc. - Excellent reference book.
