I don't think there is a time limit on how long it takes to have a poo.Sometimes people need to take longer than others, i know that at times i can be in and out of the loo in minutes or if i haven't been for a day or two then i can take 15 minutes or even longer before i have comfortably emptied my bowels. As long as you are not straining yourself and are in no discomfort, and you are emptying your bowels on a healthy regular basis then i wouldn't worry how long it takes you....everyone is different.also if you are worrying yourself too much or rushing yourself while in the toilet you could cause yourself more harm in the long run this way physically and psychologically.Health Question & Answer

If it's taking you 15 minutes to pass this is an indication you are constipated/difficult to pass; however some people sit and read a newspaper on the throne! This doesn't count of course, but if your actually taking this long to pass then really you need to drink more water and include more fibre in your diet. If the problem still persists after this, see your GP.Health Question & Answer

It varies from person to person. The time you spend isn't what's important, it's the "ease" with which you pass your stool. Does it hurt to pass it.? Does it feel hard.? Does it sting.? You may be constipated, and if that's the case, you could benefit from a laxative like a Stool Softener, or Milk of Magnesia. Just don't use laxatives for more than seven days in a row.Health Question & Answer
