Horrible Acid Reflux?!

Question: Horrible Acid Reflux.?
I was never actually diagnosed by a doctor who specifically said i have acid reflux, but ever since i was ten, im 17 now and i have experienced the stomach acid coming up and burning my throat and even ears its horrible. I dont have a bad diet infact all i have had today is "all Natural" applejuice and that even came back up. I could tast the applejuice mixed with the acid like an hour after i drank it.

Do you think I have done damage by not getting my reflux under controll...and what kind of damage.?.?.?

Well A juice isnt too good for Reflux.. Acid in it..
Stay away from :
Coffee, alcohol, and excessive amounts of Vitamin C supplements stimulate gastric acid secretion. Taking these before bedtime especially can cause evening reflux.
Antacids based on calcium carbonate (but not aluminum hydroxide) were found to actually increase the acidity of the stomach. However, all antacids reduced acidity in the lower esophagus, so the net effect on GERD symptoms may still be positive.[8].
Foods high in fats and smoking reduce lower esophageal sphincter competence, so avoiding these may help. Fat also delays stomach emptying.
Eating within 2-3 hours before bedtime.
Large meals. Having more but smaller meals reduces GERD risk, as it means there is less food in the stomach at any one time.
Carbonated soft drinks with or without sugar.
Chocolate and peppermint.
Acidic foods, such as oranges and tomatoes.
Cruciferous vegetables: onions, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, brussels sprouts.
Milk and milk-based products containing calcium and fat, within 2 hours of bedtime. Health Question & Answer

The first reference has an article saying the Nexium has been approved for pediatric use. Make an appointment with your pediatrician or OBGYN and get advice about over-the-counter relief. The second reference has some more "natural" suggestions as well as foods to avoid.

Don't be embarrassed if the MD asks you if are self-inducing vomiting; its a common problem with your age group.

It really doesn't matter if you've done damage already. You have to start from where you are today. You might ask the MD to do any blood test to rule out if anything else is wrong.Health Question & Answer

Your acid reflux problem seems to be far worse than normal acid reflux problems so you need a table spoon of high strength liquid chlorophyll every morning to promote a healthy digestive environment to eliminate that horrible acid reflux.Health Question & Answer

If you can, try Prilosec OTC. You don't need a precription for it. It is fairly expensive and takes 24 hours to work, but if you have acid reflux, this will relieve it pretty well. The dosage is one pill every day.Health Question & Answer

There are 2 causes of heartburn.

1) Too much stomach acid (actually the rarest form). Unfortunately, most prescription medications treat this one. If it was this one, you would already see relief from the medications.

2) Not enough stomach acid. This is actually the most common type. The normal cycle for digestion is that food is detected in stomach. Body creates stomach acid to break down food. Then the body stops the creation of acid. If you don't have enough acid, the body will take longer to break down the food. This leaves the acid in the stomach for a much longer period of time causing heartburn and possibly ulcers (if it goes on too long). Using Apple Cider Vinegar (see previous post for recipe), will help the stomach create more acid rapidly, thus relieving the heartburn.

Please keep in mind, the apple cider vinegar option works opposite of your prescriptions. They can not both work at the same time. I recommend the natural way first.

Now as for damage. If this goes on too long- the cells in your throat can actually change. This can cause lead to cancer at a young age (search esophogeal cancer). You can try the Apple Cider vinegar. Try it for a couple weeks. If it doesn't help- Go to your MD (he will most likely start with Prilosec or something similar)

Good Luck with this.Health Question & Answer
