Question: Amitriptyline can anybody help me.?
I have been taking Amitriptyline for 2 weeks now and one 25mg. My headaches are alot better but I am still feeling some discomfort in my face and getting the odd tension headache but they are not so severe. Anybody had any experience of this drug.? Have the effects not fully built up in my system yet or do I need to up my dose.? thanksHealth Question & Answer

i take amitriptyline for tension headaches and migranes and have done for about a yr now. i take 25mg also. my headaches have eased so much. still get the odd headache now and then but have only had 3 mirgranes since starting to take them and they were in the first few weeks of taking the tablets.
i was told by my gp that it can take upto 4weeks for the drugs to take full affect.
i would give it another 2 weeks or so and if they discomfort hasn't eased then i would say go back to see your gp. they might need to increase the dose.

It may just not work for you, amitriptyline in the treatment of migraines is still an off-label use. Try upping the dose though, it's used to treat migraines up to 75mg.Health Question & Answer
do not double up the dose because when taking a large amount of that medicine it makes you break out and gain weightHealth Question & Answer
