Why do I always pick up verrucas when I join leisure centres?!
Question: Why do I always pick up verrucas when I join leisure centres.?
Am I more prone to them than others.?
I recently joing a leisure centre and I use their showers. Now I have a verruca. Its happened before, some years back when i used to attend another leisure centre.
In contrast I have been a member of private gyms before, but have never picked up a verruca there. It just seems to occur when I attend these government-funded leisure centres.

I don't know what rubbery sock things are either, but wearing rubber sandals in the showers/locker rooms etc will definitely help prevent this. Rubber sandals like flip-flops/thongs/shower sandals. (They have different names in different places).
By keeping your own feet clean and wearing these shoes in places with moist floors, you shouldn't pick up much verruca or otherwise.

They're not cleaned properly or regularly enough, and (sorry to have to say this) a lot of people who use them don't take as good care of their physical health as they should. People who use private gyms probably have more money and time to consider personal hygiene.

Virtually everyone picks up their quota of verrucae if they take part in barefoot community activity. once you have had the viruses that cause each type you become immune and will then never get another anyway.Health Question & Answer
