I heard from a lot of people that cracking ur nuckles is really harmful cuz ur fingers ur fingers will get messed up. Is that true.? Please explainHealth Question & Answer

Answers:
According the the website below, excessive knuckle cracking can cause a weaker grip, it can sometimes cause a problem with the ligaments. There is little to no evidence of anything else.

I personally find that if I rotate and exercise my fingers, I have less of a need to crack my knuckles.

I read from a men's magazine <like Maxim or Stuff> that the pop is just air bubbles in your joints popping when adjusting your fingers and it is not harmful.

Unlike another answerer, when I use my fingers a lot, like typing or maybe with using my hand a lot, like writing, it makes me have to pop my fingers more to reduce the stiffness in them.Health Question & Answer

I know this is such a typical response to these kind of questions, but I would seriously ask your doctor about it. I think they should get certified doctors here on yahoo answers to answer these kinds of questions people have all the time! It would save us unknowledgable people the trouble of sounding idiotic. My opinion is that it has an affect on you for sure. I don't imagine it would be detrimental to your life, but I don't think it's something you should continue doing if you can help it. I personally do it all the time. I've tried quitting but once you start, you just can't stop. It's weird cause I only need to crack my middle fingers. I started doing them awhile ago cause I thought it was cool but now I regret it and I have to do it all the time. It sucks and it's not really something girls should do. Not feminine lol but I cant help it!Health Question & Answer

There is no evidence that it is true and no physiological reason I can think of why it would be true. Health Question & Answer

Yes, this is true. It harms the tissue in your knuckles.Health Question & Answer
