Can someone PLEASE help me with this health insurance craziness?!

Question: Can someone PLEASE help me with this health insurance craziness.?
I am going to be 18 in a few months and then graduating high school and I plan to move out of my parents' house and into an apartment by September 1, 2009.
We have Cigna health insurance.
When I move out, do I come off of my parent's health insurance.?
My mom looked into some of it, and she can't recall all the exact details.
I know that if I am in college full time I am still on their health insurance, but we don't know if that's only if I'm living at home.
Does anyone know the details about what happens on Cigna health insurance once a kid becomes 18.?

Answers:
If you are a full time college student, you WILL be covered, even if you don't live at home. Cigna is a big company and they should have doctors in your area; they should also cover the student health clinic at your college. The coverage will continue as long as you are a full-time student and under 25 (and I presume, not married).

If you are not in school then you will not have insurance. You will get it back when you go back to school (my sister did this). You can continue your current coverage with COBRA, but you will have to pay the full premiums. This can be pretty expensive, so you can opt for a cheap catastrophic insurance instead. Catastrophic insurance won't cover medications or doctor's visits, but it will cover emergencies, which can happen even if you are healthy. A friend of mine didn't have insurance, and she is currently paying off a hefty hospital bill from a kidney infection (don't know the exact figure, but it's somewhere in the range of $10-20k.)Health Question & Answer

You have it right in your additional details.
The laws vary from state to state, but generally you must be under 25 and financially dependent on them - meaning that you are claimed as a dependent on their tax forms. Some states require that you also be a full time student as well. Mine doesn't.

You should be covered by your parents insurance while you're in college even if you're not living at home. If you're not in school full-time, there's usually a credit requirement, then you're on your own. Cigna should have a web site to help you out.
