Could be a pinched nerve in your lower lumbar spine. The siatic nerve runs through your hip and down your leg. When it is compressed, it can cause havoc for you. You may want to visit a chiropractor and/or massage therapist to help losen the muscles in your back and glutes. If you dont relax those tensed up muscles, then the pain will continue and even get worse. It could also be a disc issue. It is definitely related to your lumbar spine. Try to lay flat on the floor and let all your breath out so that your spine is in contact with the floor from middle to lower back, raise your legs onto a couch or ottoman while doing this and try to stay there for a good amount of time if you can stand it. It should re-align your spine for a short time. Watch your bending and reaching. Be sure you bend down with your legs keeping your back as straight as possible. Dont try to reach and pull or push heavy things. Use your legs more.

Go see the D.C. or an LMT and let them help you get your nerve decompressed. If that doesnt work, you may need to see an orthopedic back specialist.

The last thing you want to think about here is possibly a blood clot. I dont think it is, but that would be a blockage keeping blood from flowing properly through your leg and cause cramping...again...see the professionals for that. If it is a blood clot, that would be a contraindication for massage, get yourself checked out. Dont start popping pain pills because that is not solving the problem, just masking it.

Good luck. Health Question & Answer

DVTs can occur anywhere in the body but are most frequently found in the deep veins of the legs, thighs, and pelvis. They may infrequently arise from the upper extremities usually because of trauma, or from an indwelling catheter (tubing) or device.

A deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition wherein a blood clot (thrombus) forms in a vein of the deep system.
