Why do I get a headache when I lay down?!

Question: Why do I get a headache when I lay down.?
In the day time when I am not very tired and lay down even for just a couple of minutes I get a headache. On the couch, on the floor on my bed anywhere this has been happening as long as I can remember. Its not just a head rush either I layed down 2 hours ago for 2 minutes and I still have a headache.Health Question & Answer

If your a big guy like myself then it might be high blood pressure. When you lay down, the high blood pressure is ramming blood into your brain causing a headache. This though you might or might not notice as a steady slight to heavy (depending how high the pressure is) throb. Just one theory. here's some others:
1. High Blood pressure
2. Dehydrated (even if you don't feel thirsty, you might be)
3. High Cholesterol/HyperTension
Try Drinking a few cups of water more a day. Give blood (its free, you get cookies, and they check your cholesterol for free and send you the results, oh and you save somebodys life). Next time your at the grocery store, put your arm in that blood pressure checker by the pharmacy and write down the numbers and check them out online. Try these steps which are wonderfully Free! and you might get some clues to whats causing the headaches.
If it gets bad, go to the Doc and he'll do all of the above and more.

Check this site I found, people talking about this happening to them.

Probably an alignment issue. It seems that when you lay down, you put pressure on a nerve somewhere in your body, and that pressure is causing your headaches. If it were a constant headache I might think it to be something else, but since the symptom comes on from laying down, I think it's a misaligned spine.

I suggest seeing a Chiropractor. If that's the problem they can easily fix it.Health Question & Answer

Don't lie down if you're not tired.

It could be not the surface or place you are laying but the ANGLE or POSITION in which you hold your head when you lie.

You could hold tension in your neck which doesn't allow your head to rest easily causing a tension headache.

I would go to the doc's if I were you to be sure. ASAP
