Extreme lower back pain, pinched nerve?!

Question: Extreme lower back pain, pinched nerve.?
For the past two days I've had lower back pain (right above my butt) which was triggered from bending over and getting out of bed. Today, I thought it was starting to subside until I sneezed...it was the most excruciating pain in my lower back which has confined me to my bed. It hurts so bad to get in and out of bed, it hurts to walk. I am currently typing this as I lay on my side with a pillow between my legs and I have to be extremely careful because the SLIGHTEST movement hurts!

I'll be making a Dr's appointment, but what can be done in the meantime to help relieve this pain.?

Thanks for your help.Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I feel your pain. Been there and done that. Rotating between ice and heat can help. If you can get to the store, I like Excedrin back and body. Works wonders. Sleeping is the worst part. You have the right idea with the pillow. Try the fetal position. If you have a rocking chair, you can try sleeping in it. Sometimes sitting upright helps with a pillow for support. Don't laugh but Ben-gay works wonders. There are a number of PM medicines that can help you sleep.
If the doctor recommends physical therapy, go for it. also, the chiropractor might be something to look into. The doctor may give you the following-pain medication, muscle relaxer, and anti-inflammatory can make you a little loopy but sleepy. Just to warn you.
