I have always had trouble sleeping when we are having a full moon. Usually for a few days before and a few days after, I don't sleep. (Please no sarcastic comments)

-warm milk

some ideas: long hot bath before bed. Chamomile tea. OR a glass of warm (dairy) milk. deep breathing/meditating for 20 minutes before sleep. do not exercise for an hour or so before sleep. if you're anxious about something that keeps you up at night, try writing it down (even make a list) and put it aside. that way, it's not sitting on your mind all night.
Other stress management strategies that help with having a better sleep habit:
-decrease caffeine
- decrease smoking (it's a stimulant)
-exercise routinely during the day, not before bed time.
-increase deep breathing exercises (improve your stance/posture)
-get a massage about once a month
-watch something funny not drama (if you watch TV in the evening)
-try going to bed the same time nightly
-Chamomile tea instead of black tea at night--Green tea instead of coffee during the day!
-Yoga
-take long walks during the day

You really need to talk to your doctor and maybe get a referral to a sleep clinic. In the short term, take a hot bath right before you go to bed. If you have an MP3 player download some static files (like rain or a river) and play it when you try to sleep. In the long term, please get some help. Not sleeping and being sleep deprived is worse on your reflexes and judgment than being drunk!Health Question & Answer
