I'm a college kid and I have no health insurance and I am getting sick, what do I need to do?!

Question: I'm a college kid and I have no health insurance and I am getting sick, what do I need to do.?
I have no job and no health insurance. The only reason I can afford going to school is my grades. I am running a slight fever. I have a headache on the back left side of my head.I'm turning pale and I have naturally have a darker skin tone. I haven't slept well in the past three nights.

Besides voting for Obama(lol), what should I do.?

I don't have health insurance because my mother and step-father cut my health insurance for disagreeing on where I wanted to go to college.

(Oh and I have a College Algebra test tomorrow)Health Question & Answer

I'd say, try these things:

1) You could spend the money and see a doctor or the clinic at school. You could pay them or maybe they'd bill you. This is if you think you're really seriously acutely ill. It might cost $85 or so for a regular doctor plus it might take a few days to get in.

2) The best way to pass that Algebra test is to go to bed now, right away. Drink some water. When you wake up tomorrow, gargle with salt water. Eat whatever you've got good around the house, fruits, vegetables, protein, plenty of fluids. If you can, take a short walk, stretch, do jumping jacks. What I'm saying is do these basic things to stay in good health.

3) Maybe get something for your headache and a bottle of stress vitamins. Under $15.

Personally, I'd go for the cheap option.

Next, seriously, do talk to the Student Health people and see what kind of insurance you can get for cheap. You really do need something. It used to cost me around $210 a year back in the dark ages. Something basic will be cheap. Get it and you won't have to be on Yahoo at midnight asking this stuff before your next College Algebra test!

Hope you feel better soon, whatever you decide to do.Health Question & Answer

Look e-mail you teacher and let them know that you are not feeling well. Most teacher will accept that as long as you bring in a Dr note. Look you can go to your local hospital and if you have a job you can qualify for hospital charity and you only pay a percent of the cost. That or go to the ER it is totally co-pay free to be seen than you pay for the service you receive by them sending you a bill.Health Question & Answer

Does your college have a health clinic.? When I went to college, years ago there was a clinic that was very cheap. If you get really sick go the the ER, they can't turn you away because you can't pay.Health Question & Answer

Colleges and universities do have health centers which treat all sorts of conditions, with local doctors, at low cost to you. Check them out!

ok i'll forget I saw that whole obama comment in there... ;)

If you have some money-such as 80-100 dollars you should be able to get a dr apt and pay cash. If not, I would try going to the ER and when they bill you, you can make small payments..Maybe u could also try to borrow some money. I would hope your mom would be understanding if you are sick!!! That's crazy!

If none of that works look up some home remedies or take over the counter cold medication and sleep until it passes...As for the test, if you can't make it up I would go just for that class and then go home and rest. I don't think missing one day will hurt you too much!

Good luck and get well soon!! Health Question & Answer
