Feels like I dislocated my knee, please help?!

Question: Feels like I dislocated my knee, please help.?
Last year, I went to sit down in the lazy-boy and I bent my leg before sitting down. Like I was going to sit in my leg. I had sat like that before and nothing had happened. Well that time, my leg felt like it dislocated in the knee in back where the Patella is, but I felt the pain all the way into my knee. I couldn't move it whatsoever or let it hang there if I used my arms to lift myself up. After about 30 minutes it sorta went away but still had some pain. It's happened a few times afterwards as well. Then last night at my sister in laws baby shower, I was sitting on the ground, on my knees, putting wrapping paper in the garbage and as I went to get up it did it again. This time I was sort of on the spot, I didn't wanna express my pain in front of EVERYONE there. So my mother in law saw my face turn pitch red and I got all warm, so she gave me a chair and I somehow managed to sit down, but my leg wasn't moving anywhere. This time, it seemed like it was worse than the others, it lasted longer and even the day after, I still have pain.

ANYWAYS, moral of the story.. what the heck is happening when this happens. The Patella is those 2 long skinny bones in the back on each side of your knee. The pain starts there and goes all the way into my knee. Why does this happen and how.? Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I've dislocated my knee countless time because of one accident.
It happened once, and then time and time again it did.
You need to go to a doctor. My doctor told me that my leg was trying to grow the opposite way than it should, because the outside muscle of my leg was stronger than the inside.
Something similar could be happening to you, because I like to sit on leg as well.
I ended up having to go to physical therapy for about 8 weeks and then wear a knee brace.
I'd get to a doctor and have him check you out before it gets worse. Health Question & Answer

Did you look at your knee during the time you couldn't move it.? Usually you can clearly see if your patella is out of place. It doesn't really hurt unless you try to move it though. But if you didn't move at all I don't think it would just go back in place by itself when your leg is completely still. I would go to the doctor to make sure its nothing serious.

Your patella is not those two long skinny bones, it is the actual knee cap itself. Those "bones" you're talking about are actually ligaments, so maybe you pulled something and it just acts up every now and then. Id still have it checked out.Health Question & Answer
