Diabetes can start to hit you in a matter of months so, the short answer is yes it could be the early onset of diabetes.
Sadly you didn't give your age. If you're still a teen you may be borderline Type 1 diabetes.
You may also be drinking a little more than your friends too. You may be drinking the same volume but be smaller frame than them in which case you are overloading your body more than they are.
You may have a smaller bladder or more efficient kidneys than them. What you eat can also be causing it. If you eat a lot of vegetables - they are high in water you may be getting a lot of water that way. Some vegetables, celery for example, are natural diuretics and make you pee more often.
I would look at some of the above before I diagnosed myself as diabetes just yet. Health Question & Answer

You could have an over active bladder, but I would say, cut down on the fluid intake. There used to be a sign in an old beer joint when I was younger and it read; Drink til twelve and pistol to 2. So the intake does have a lot to do with how much you urinate. Definitely. Diabetes can develop in a shorter time than that, but it's probably not that young lady. Good luck to you. If it continues though if you cut down fluid intake, then better have things checked out. My wife is a diabetic and she is always thirsty, a good sign of diabetes, but she doesn't urinate frequently. In your case I would think more of fluid intake. If you were a male I would add prostate trouble.Health Question & Answer

Yes, you could develop diabetes in as little as a year. But there are other possible reasons for this, and the proper person to ask about it is your physician.
BTW - don't let diabetes scare you; it can be treated and you can live a long and reasonably healthy and happy life. I speak from personal experience as well as being a health professional...Health Question & Answer

It could be a whole lot of things. If you are worried then go to the doctor. You also need to think about the weather, the amount of fluid you intake, and physical activity you perform. You also need to think about other symptoms you may have. Health Question & Answer

There's a ton of possibilities, including Overactive bladder, pregnancy, or
what you're eating, like teas or coffees.
You're probably okay, but if you feel you'll be concerned either way, get tested. Good luck!Health Question & Answer
