If you don't sleep for a week before surgery?!

Question: If you don't sleep for a week before surgery.?
will you die when they give you General Anesthesia.? Since General Anesthesia knocks you out and if you're sleep deprived on top of that will you die.?Health Question & Answer

Answers:
I do not know how it would be humanly possible to stay fully awake for a whole week without the aid of a powerful stimulant such as; dexamphetamine, methamphetamine or cocaine.
Even then, the brain will go into a sleep like state while the body is in waking mode making it difficult to separate dreams from reality.

Those with insomnia have trouble sleeping through the night and some may only get an hour or two due to small frequent dream-like states in-which they nod-out, not even aware they have done so.

Depriving the body of sleep for a substantial amount of time before being put under anaesthesia will not cause the anaesthesia to react more powerfully or cause an overdose.

The general anaesthesia dose for each person is calculated by a persons height and weight along with important factors such as sensitivities and/or allergies, blood pressure, drug use prescription or other and over all health history.

The only problems you may cause yourself due sleep deprivation before surgery would be; a very weak immune system due to lack of proper sleep. This could potentially raise your risk of contracting an infection after the surgery. You will also be at a higher risk of contracting not only an infection but it will take your body much longer to heal and recover from the surgery.

Hospitals and day clinics are the most common places to contract virus's and bacterial infections. Staph germs are the most common skin infections and a new antibiotic resistant staph germ is becoming a deadly health hazard for many in hospital these days.

A compromised immune system or a weakened immune system will be very vulnerable in a hospital setting.

I hope this information has been of some help to you.Health Question & Answer

Umm is that possible.? Anyway you'd probably get a massive infection afterwards due to a compromised immune system or the recover time would be super long.Health Question & Answer

No. On the contrary, you will sleep after they put you to sleep, DUHH!

Besides, one week is not enough to die from sleep deprivation.Health Question & Answer

Talk to your doctor before your surgery date. Maybe he'll prescribe you some sleep aids so that you can get a bit of rest before the big day.Health Question & Answer
