If you've taken any decongestants or other cold medicines, they can also be stimulants (depending on the active drug).
If you can stand it, try not to take any medicine for a few hours before you go to bed.
You can try a tea of mint and chamomile to relax you and if you put honey in it, it will be soothing on your throat.
Elderberry syrup is also good for helping your body to fight a cold or flu. If you can't find the syrup, ricola makes elderberry lozenges that are a great substitute.
And another home remedy is to sip hot lemonade made with honey instead of sugar (and sometimes a shot of whiskey) The lemon soothes and provides vitamin C to fight the bug, the honey sooths and boosts the immune system, and the whiskey helps you relax/rest.

Hope this advise isn't too late for you to get some rest!

You need Nyquil. That'll stop your runny nose and all the other symptoms of a cold, and you'll get the rest you need. You can take Dayquil in the daytime too. Generics are fine for both.

Bless you and get well soon! :)Health Question & Answer

With all the symptoms of a cold, it can be quite annoying. The runny nose, coughing, etc. It's bound to keep you up at night. I would try taking a nightime nyquil. It helps relieve the symptoms and also helps you sleep. Health Question & Answer
