Need a Rx pain med that works for me.?!

Question: Need a Rx pain med that works for me..?
I recently broke my ankle and for the pain my Dr. gave me Percocet but it did nothing for the pain and made me itchy, not like a rash or something just an itch for a while. So he moved me over to Lortab 7.5 and I was taking 2 at a time every 5 hours so it will actually work. After 3 weeks he moved to Darvocet and those do nothing but give me a mild head ache and make me kind of tired. I am 6'2 260 pounds and I am a 22 year old healthy male. I have never really taken pills, Advil, or anything. Actually till 2 years ago I had a phobia about pills and did what I could to not take them. Now that I can take them I cant really find anything that relieves the pain, is there something else that I can try, I don't really want to be taking massive amount of pills so I don't have pain just want something that works. I have heard that Lortab 10

I take hydrocodone which is the generic for vicodin. It can be habit forming if abused. Or, you can take tylenol with codeine. There are a number of pain killers out there, but doctors try and give you the mildest. Although it also depends on the doctor too. My doctor knows me and knows that I won't abuse the drug.

Talk to your doctor and tell him that you are in pain and that the medication he gave you isn't taking the pain away. also, if you have any side effects (even mild), let him/her know. You may have a mild allergy to the medication.

Good luck and I hope you feel better!!Health Question & Answer

You could try asking your doctor to refer you to a pain management specialist.Im not sure if he will, unless its chronic pain that you are in.I go to a pain management doc. for disc degeneration disease(a chronic condition)and he gives me norco(hydrocodone 10s).I itch too from this medicine but it is a normal reaction unless its a severe rash.I hope you get to feeling better!Health Question & Answer
