Hi Colin. I had this CTS operation done on both hands about 5 years ago. I know what discomfort you have, particularly at night. Believe me, the post operation pain relief is well worth the disruption to your commitments. The actual operation only takes about 15 minutes per hand, under local anaesthesia. Your hands will be bandaged for about one week after which the stitches are taken out. There is some discomfort after the op but they give you pain killers for that. I had them done separately with a two month gap. (Who is going to wipe your butt when your hands are bandaged). I was off work for about 4 weeks for each hand. You don't mention what your commitments are but there is a point where you have to look after your own health and welfare. This condition only gets more painful, not level off if left. Go for it. Have the operation and pick up from where you left off. Believe me It is well worth the inconvenience.

Good luck.Health Question & Answer

take their advice seriously.... be strict about taking the time to heal.... i have a recurring shoulder injury (the right one) that i did not get fixed... i tried to keep working on my computer at work it only got worse- i learnt to use everything left handed and rested it for a few months, best thing i ever learnt to do was to become completely ambidextrous so i could rest the sore side and let it recover but had less down time over all- i know you have it in both but it's still worth thinking about reducing the strain that led to your injuryHealth Question & Answer

they will not operate on both hands at the same time(obvious reasons), I had my left wrist done 1st, and was off of work for 6 weeks,I then decided that I would not go for the other wrist as I could not afford to be off another 6 weeks SSP does not pay all that much (
