My brother was shot in the face with a very strong airsoft/bb gun.?!

Question: My brother was shot in the face with a very strong airsoft/bb gun..?
He was shot in his jaw by his cheek with a 400 fps airsoft gun from 5 feet away in a cqb field with a bb and now he has a welt on his face. It is an open wound and it formed a scab. It's pretty swollen and the area around it is red.
How can I help it heal and make sure it doesn't get infected.?
What signs should I look for to make sure it's not infected.

Any thoughts would be highly appreciated. Thank you.Health Question & Answer

Keep it clean and use neosporin on it. Watch it though, any sign of infection and he should get to a doctor!

Signs of infection, if its read and warm in the wound area, and also pus . ( naturally ) Has he had a tetnus shot recently, he needs one.Health Question & Answer

he needs to go the hospital and get it treated. For now soak tissue paper in alcohol (wash your hands in anti-bacterial soap first) and cleanse that area. Get a clean towel and place it on the wound. If it does get infected it can be pretty bad. Health Question & Answer

Ice packs should help the swelling. Maybe some Neosporin Cream--some type of antibacterial cream. If it should get worse--go to a doctor.Health Question & Answer

I really don't know what you should do, I'm sorry, but this sounds A LOT like something my brother would do, he owns about 5 bb guns and 1 aerosoft gun.Health Question & Answer

Oh my gosh I'm so sorry =/

You should definitely take him to the hospital, i don't think there's anything you can really do at home for him.Health Question & Answer

Take him to the Doc ASAP there's nothing else you could do just comfort him Health Question & Answer
